Complete Facelift for Citi Pizza on H Street
7 SepDistrict Cuisine noted several months ago that Citi Pizza (504 H Street, NE) was temporarily closed for renovations. Over the past several weeks the restaurant has undergone a major external transformation, and the front wall has been replaced with new windows. At the end of last week, the exterior got a bright new paint job that makes it stand out on the block.
Two New Hotels Open Near Union Market
6 SepTwo new Hilton hotels opened near Union Market recently. A Hampton Inn and a Homewood Suites are located at 501 New York Avenue, NE. The two new properties replaced a rundown Quality Inn that had previously occupied the land. The hotels both open up onto New York Avenue but feature a shared courtyard inside and away from the main road (you need a key card to enter from New York Avenue). The main entrances for the hotels are located in this courtyard area that is much quieter than the busy road outside. Both hotels are being marketed as “near Union Station” and easily accessible to the NoMa Metro station. The new hotels join the Hilton Garden Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Hyatt Place in NoMa and the Howard Johnson nearby on New York Avenue.
Union Social Officially Closed in NoMa
6 SepDistrict Cuisine reported several weeks ago that a for lease posting had been put online for Union Social in NoMa. That listing was promptly taken down; however, it now appears that Union Social is officially closed. The space is very large (it could probably be two restaurants) and located towards the top of NoMa. We’ll be on the lookout for what the space may become.
